MEET Yaren

Hi, I'm Yaren aLTAN

an associate marriage and family therapist AND ASSOCIATE PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR.

I help individuals and couples deepen their self-understanding, heal from painful patterns, and reconnect with the parts of themselves they may have lost touch with. My integrative approach combines mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and family systems work to support both practical change and meaningful inner healing.

Therapy with me is not just about symptom relief, it’s about creating space to explore your inner world, understand how past experiences may still be shaping your present, and develop tools that support a grounded, connected life.

Rooted in Cultural Awareness and Real-Life Experience

I grew up in a culturally diverse household, and that experience deeply shapes my work. I value culturally responsive care, bring an attitude of humility and curiosity to the therapy space, and continually seek to learn from my clients' unique identities and life stories.

I’ve supported a wide range of clients including adult children of dysfunctional families, veterans, foster youth, and intercultural couples. These experiences have helped me develop a deep respect for resilience and the many ways people survive, and eventually heal.

what we can work on together

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Whether you’re experiencing chronic anxiety, panic attacks, shame, trauma, or grief, we’ll work together to gently unpack what’s underneath while building coping tools that actually work for you.

I also support clients navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and the long-term effects of complex PTSD. My goal is to walk beside you, not just as someone who listens, but as someone who helps you make sense of your experience and move forward with intention.

A Personalized, coLLABORATIVE Approach

No two clients are alike, and your therapy shouldn’t be either. I draw from a range of approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and the Gottman Method for couples.

In sessions, I also integrate narrative therapy, existential and feminist perspectives, and sometimes even therapeutic journaling, whatever helps you feel empowered, understood, and supported in your healing.
